HELPFUL PRESCRIPTION TOOLS
CVS Caremark® has the Check Drug Cost tool to help HMSA members like you determine if you can save money on medications you need to stay healthy. The up-to-the-minute, member-specific information in the tool helps you and your provider make more-informed decisions about the medications you need. The Check Drug Cost tool is available online at hmsa.com 

With the Check Drug Cost tool, you can easily search for a drug and dosage. In a few seconds, you can:

  • Find out if a medication is covered by your plan.
  • See the most affordable options.
  • Compare the cost of filling your prescription by mail or in-person.
  • Compare the cost of 30- or 90-day supplies.
  • Understand what you and your doctor need to do to get your prescription filled.
GET A MAIL ORDER PRESCRIPTION

Mail order through CVS Caremark is available to most HMSA drug plan members. You can save money with mail-order drugs because copayments are generally lower than when you buy from retail pharmacies. Check your drug plan certificate to see if you have mail order as a benefit.

You have four ways to have a new prescription filled by mail order:

  • Call the CVS FastStart service line at 1-800-875-0867 toll-free. 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Log on to My Account on hmsa.com. Select Prescription Tools on the top left of the screen, then select FastStart®. You’ll be directed to the CVS Caremark Web page. Fill out and send in the mail-order service order form.
  • Ask your provider to call in your prescription to 1-877-418-4130 toll-free, or fax your prescription to 1-800-378-0323.
  • Log in to My Account on hmsa.com. Select Manage Mail Order Prescriptions to the right of the home screen.

To maximize your Benefit, ask your Physician to write your Prescription Order or Refill for a 90-day supply, with refills when appropriate. You will be charged a mail order Co-payment for any Prescription Orders or Refills sent to the mail order pharmacy or Preferred 90 Day Retail Network Pharmacy regardless of the number-of-days supply written on the Prescription Order or Refill. Be sure your Physician writes your Prescription Order or Refill for a 90-day supply, not a 30-day supply with three refills.
